Hairstyling Diploma Course

Barrie College of Hair and Esthetics offers a 1500 hour (41 week) hairstyling program. Approximately 9 ½ months. Monday – Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. 

Registration requirements

The entry for apprenticeship training for skilled trades is grade 12 or its equivalent. Governed by the Apprenticeship and Certification Act.

Administration Fee $200.00

 - Registration fee is non-refundable

First month payment of $2,300.00
7 monthly payments of $650.00

Includes books, mannequins, and advanced kit.

Dress code

Black dress pants or skirt - no miniskirts or short shorts
Black shoes
Black school lab coat ($19.00 + tax). Any colour shirt may be worn underneath (no hoodies)

3 Phase Hairstyling Diploma Course Outline

Introduction Unit / Understanding of principles and elements of art

Begin by learning the fundamentals of cutting, styling and chemical restructuring and coloring of hair, and the related sciences. Lectures, demonstration and workshops concentrate on developing accuracy, reinforcing classroom knowledge. You will be introduced to retail merchandising, client servicing and personal development skills.

Application Unit / Detail application of the scientific and artistic influences

Unlock your creativity as you explore the latest trends and techniques in hair cutting styling, coloring, permanent waving and chemical re-structuring. Time in the clinic allows you to become increasingly confident in you professional abilities. And you begin to learn vital employment and career-advancing skills.

Abstract Unit

Get ready to launch your career with in-depth training in client service, time management, self promotion, goal setting, merchandising and entrepreneurship. You can demonstrate competency in all tasks required for the 2000 hour apprenticeship and Certificate of Qualification examination.
